He is actually a very talented musician
Narrative
Three strangers – who live in the same New York apartment building and are obsessed with true crime – suddenly become involved in a murder. Steve Martin plays the conductor in various scenes. The viewer learned in the first episode that CHS lived above Oliver, who lived above Mabel, thanks to this elevator scene. BUT the opening episode shows CHS in an apartment on the 7th floor, Oliver on the 8th floor, Mabel on the 9th – in reverse order and well below the actual CHS floor in the show. He is in the cast of Crazy Cartoon AniMat: The Rat of All My Dreams (2020). Season 1 (9/10) When this show came out, my girlfriend wasn’t particularly interested.
Soon they will be investigating and recording podcasts
I’m a big fan of crime fiction and loved Steve Martin when I was younger, but I have moderate enthusiasm for both. But after five minutes I had to stop and tell him to watch it because we’re New Yorkers and this show captures New York in five minutes. The weird interactions of the passersby, the artsy types, the justified paranoia, it was all there and instantly funny. The series follows three murder podcast fanatics who become closer through a real-life murder in their luxury apartment. But each hides secrets from each other in the wonderful structure of the mystery within the secret. Everyone has secrets, the show says, and digging deep is a fascinating exercise.
The cast is amazing
Martin is funny but not up to it, Short, who I’m lukewarm on, is very funny as the flamboyant theater director, and Selena Gomez is great as the hilariously sarcastic temporary tenant. As far as I can tell, this show is a hot topic – my friends (and fellow New Yorkers) sure love it – so I was shocked to see how many user reviews simply hate or find this show mediocre, to the point where they insist that every positive review has to be paid for. This reaction is incomprehensible to me. The program is amazing. When a new episode came out, we immediately watched it. This is so, so, so, so good.
Season 3 (6/10): What the Hell Happened?
Ignore the skeptics, this is a must see. Other Seasons: Season 2 (8/10): Slightly weaker than the first season, but still excellent. In season 3, Steve Martin played her character as a complete idiot, and after 2 great seasons, Selena Gomez became colorless – more sullen and less sarcastic wit. And when the mystery was solved, oh my god, that was the most ridiculous motive he could come up with. Sure, there were good moments, good special guests, surprisingly enjoyable songs. But OMG.
Probably the second best season after the first
Season 4 (9 stars) To my relief, Season 4 was a return to form – Martin was no longer an idiot and Gomez’s delightful sarcasm was fully restored. There are some fun guest stars—Eva Longoria is especially funny when she’s playing herself as a truly terrible person—the mystery is solid and suspenseful, the plot twists are satisfying, and it’s all great fun.
