Narrative
A two-hour window into the heart of Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process, the documentary follows six long years of work during the making of the Japanese animation master’s latest film, Boy and Hero. a touching and funny documentary. Kaku Arakawa can closely follow Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process while making The Boy and the Stork. He perfectly combines scenes from Miyazaki’s films with the real people involved in the making of the film, as well as people who are/were important to Miyazaki. I saw this film at the Helsinki International Film Festival Love & Anarchy. Some moments made the audience laugh out loud, while others wiped their level. I hope Miyazaki can make more movies. I cannot recommend this documentary to any ghibli fan.
