Narrative
19-year-old Liane lives with her mother and sister in Fréjus in the south of France. Because of her desire for beauty and stardom, she auditions for the reality show “Csodasziget”. Agathe Riedinger’s film does not reproduce romantic clichés. It’s wonderfully authentic and, like life, unsweetened. Flawless acting and the development of characters that are hard not to relate to. An excellent script that deliberately avoids the well-trodden paths of drama – with a maturity rarely seen among debuts. The director hints at them and then consistently leads us on a different path. The reality of the film is far from the black and white simplifications that decades of patriarchal narrative have accustomed us to. The topic here is the woman. Beautiful cinema, incredible debut. 10/10.
