Narrative

Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler, decides to fulfil his dream and win a gold medal for his country by training his daughters for the Commonwealth Games, despite the prevailing social prejudices. The film is a true story based on the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained 6 girls in “dangal”, 4 of whom were his own and 2 of his brother. Young Babita is left-handed, which can be seen from the way she claps during Geetha’s Dangal matches. But as she grows older, she becomes right-handed, which can be seen from the way she claps during Geetha’s Commonwealth Games.
